Students Share First Produce from School Garden

Students of Martin Road Elementary School harvested the first batch of cherry tomatoes and donated them to the student lunch room so all could benefit from the healthy, organically grown vegetables.  As part of Steeler Service Day 2016, the fifth grade students, in conjunction with the Cornell Cooperative and under the watchful eye of Ms. Jennifer Tynan, planted the first phase of what is now known as the Pizza Garden.  Basil, oregano and a variety of tomato plants were planted, watered and weeded by students.  This year's fifth graders have taken on the task with amazing results.  This is part of a five year grant and the Cornell Cooperative will assist in adding two raised beds to our garden each year for the remaining four years.
