The Lackawanna Community Juneteenth Committee sponsored a Juneteenth essay contest for students in Grades 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Students in grades 3-5 were tasked to write an essay on the topic, "What is Juneteenth and what does it mean to you and your family?"
Winners were recognized at the second annual Juneteenth celebration on Wasson Avenue.
