Transportation Deadline - April 1st, 2022

The deadline for all Non-Public and Charter School Transportation Requests for the 2022-2023 school year has been extended to May 31, 2022.

The Lackawanna City School District recently revised the district’s policy regarding the transportation of students attending schools outside of the City of Lackawanna.  The revised policy indicates that transportation will be provided for pupils in kindergarten through grade five who reside one-half mile or more from the school they attend and for pupils in grades six through eight who reside one and one-half miles or more from the school they attend to a maximum of ten miles.  Transportation will be provided for pupils in grades nine through twelve who reside one and one-half miles or more from the school they attend up to a maximum of ten miles, by either school bus or public carrier, at the discretion of the district.  A copy of the revised policy can be found on the district’s website.

Typically, parents or guardians are required to submit a Transportation Service Request Form to the district’s transportation department by April 1st each school year in order to secure transportation to a non-public or charter school for the next school year.  This year’s deadline has been extended to May 31st.

The form can be accessed in the Transportation Forms and Policy section. All requests are to be returned to The Transportation Department at The Lackawanna City School District Administration Building located at 245 South Shore Boulevard. Requests can be dropped off, mailed or faxed to 716-821-5625.
