This week's staff highlight recognizes Speech Language Pathologist, Elizabeth Kobialka. Read Elizabeth's bio below!
"Hi! I’m Elizabeth Kobialka, and I’m excited to share a little bit about myself. Outside of school, I’m a proud mom to two amazing boys and a fluffy Siberian Husky who keeps us all on our toes. Most of my free time is spent at the fields or courts, cheering on my kids while they play sports—it’s one of my favorite things to do.
I’ve been a Speech-Language Pathologist for 20 years, and my journey has taken me through many different areas of the field. I started out in medical speech pathology, then spent time in early intervention and preschool settings. About seven years ago, I made the shift to working with school-age students, and it’s truly been a rewarding experience.
I joined the district in December 2023, and from day one, I’ve felt so welcomed and supported—it really feels like I’m part of a family here. One area I’m especially passionate about is Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I’ve seen AAC give children a voice for the very first time and help individuals regain communication after medical events. Watching students discover their ability to express themselves—whether through a device, pictures or gestures—is what inspires me every day.
Working with the autistic population and supporting AAC users has become my passion. My goal is to empower my students, help them grow into self-advocating individuals, and give them the tools they need to be heard.
Thank you for letting me be a part of this incredible team and for the opportunity to do the work I love!"
