Martin Road Elementary students in Ms. Courtney and Ms. Ginnetti's class have been diving into the important skill of distinguishing between facts and opinions. They explored how a fact is something that can be proven true or false, while an opinion is something that can be debated or is based on personal feelings.

To make learning fun and engaging, students participated in role-playing activities, taking turns expressing their own opinions and responding with facts. This hands-on experience helped solidify their understanding in a memorable way!

Together, the class created a colorful anchor chart to give students a visual reminder of how to spot the difference between fact and opinion in their reading and writing.

To wrap up the unit, students will be putting their learning into action by writing their own opinion essays on the topic: Should plastic bags be used? We can’t wait to read their thoughtful, persuasive arguments!
