Student poster highlighting their efforts for Wisdom Farms.

A group of sixth grade students at LMS, led by Max, transformed creativity into compassion during this year’s LMS Kindness Market. The students handcrafted rainbow loom bracelets and sold them to raise money for a meaningful cause close to their hearts.

Students work on bracelets to donate. Thanks to the funds raised, along with generous staff donations, the class was able to purchase much-needed items from the wish list of Wisdom Farms, a nonprofit organization that rescues and rehabilitates horses, offers wellness programs for local veterans and provides reading programs for children. Each animal at Wisdom Farms has been rescued, retired or thoughtfully rehomed, making the students’ contribution even more impactful.

The donated items were delivered on Valentine’s Day by Mrs. Zahn’s children, turning the holiday into a true celebration of kindness.

“This moment and the entire situation, and this group's random act of kindness really touched our hearts and lifted the spirits of us here, including the animals. Thank you so much to Ms. Burke and Mrs. Zahn and this beautiful group of students from the Lackawanna Schools. There is still good in our world!”

The partnership doesn’t end here. The animals and the team at Wisdom Farms are looking forward to welcoming young readers from LMS this spring.

This inspiring project is a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our community.
