Students in Ms. Blackburn’s 2nd grade class recently completed a heartwarming writing project focused on a simple but powerful prompt: Tell about a time you helped someone.
With support from Mr. Mileham, the district’s Technology Integration Specialist from BOCES, students used Microsoft Teams as an online space to plan and brainstorm their ideas. The digital platform allowed students to organize their thoughts before turning their ideas into written stories.
After organizing their notes online, students wrote and illustrated their personal narratives, sharing meaningful moments when they helped a friend, family member or classmate. It was a perfect full-circle moment, while students were writing about helping others, Mr. Mileham was helping them learn how technology can support their creativity and learning.
A big shoutout to Ms. Blackburn and Mr. Mileham for thoughtfully integrating technology into the ELA classroom and giving students new tools to bring their stories to life!
