Mr. Sanders cuts the ribbon to open the playground.

Martin Road Elementary proudly celebrated the grand opening of its new playground with a special ceremony that brought together students, staff, community and our board members for a memorable and long-awaited milestone.

The event featured a student musical performance and poem-reading that set a celebratory tone, showcasing the talent and spirit of Martin Road students as they helped mark the occasion in a meaningful way.

Following the performance, the ceremony continued with remarks recognizing the individuals and groups who made the playground possible, including the Martin Road Playground Committee, Assistant Principal Rosanna Howell, Instructional Math Coach Heather Kwiatkowski and Michael Sanders, whose generous donation funded the project and helped bring this vision to life.

Mr. Sanders then joined school leadership for the official ribbon cutting, signaling the opening of the playground and welcoming students onto the space for the very first time.

The district extends its sincere appreciation to the Martin Road Playground Committee and Mr. Sanders for their dedication, generosity and commitment to enhancing the student experience. Their efforts have created a lasting addition to the school community that will benefit students for years to come.
