School psychologist works with students at Truman.

Mrs. Szczesny, the school psychologist, works with students in a kindergarten class on how to play with others. At the kindergarten level, play is an essential part of social, emotional, language and cognitive development.

Play helps children learn important skills such as taking turns, sharing materials, following directions, using kind words, expressing emotions appropriately, and working together with their peers.

By intentionally teaching play skills, students can build confidence, develop friendships, strengthen emotional regulation and create a positive classroom community.
