Children in a classroom paying attention to the teachers.

Learning is hands-on, minds-on in our co-taught second-grade classroom with Ms. Marton and Mrs. Taylor!

Today, students dove into an engaging, multisensory phonics lesson using UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute). Working together, our teachers brought foundational reading skills to life as students practiced decoding words, encoding (spelling) words, and applying their learning by writing complete sentences!

But the learning didn’t stop with reading and spelling! Students also used fun, purposeful gestures to help them remember the essential components of a complete sentence. By seeing it, saying it, doing it, and writing it, students had multiple opportunities to strengthen their skills and build confidence as young readers and writers.

We love seeing the thoughtful collaboration, creativity, and dedication our teachers bring to the classroom each day! Ms. Marton and Mrs. Taylor are showing how intentional instruction and teamwork can make learning meaningful, memorable, and FUN!

Way to go, second graders! Keep reading, writing, and growing at Martin Road!
