SkillsUSA State students pose for a photo with Lackawanna staff.

Three of our LHS Juniors qualified and participated in the SkillsUSA New York State competition through their CTE programs at Erie 1 BOCES.

Our local LEEF Foundation, through Mr. Michael Sanders, funded the three students' entry fees to attend the competition in Syracuse this past April. Ireney VanWagner represented the Baking and Pastry Arts program, Alex Barry for the Carpentry program and Josiah Rosado-Roman for the Electrical Systems program.

All of our students represented Lackawanna well with Alex Barry winning the gold and earning the title of State Champion. They all aspire to return next year as seniors to qualify for the national competition.

Congratulations!
