Did you know that for every 1-second wasted during a cardiac emergency, a victim’s chance of survival decreases by nearly 10%?
As part of Lackawanna CSD’s new districtwide Swim & Water Safety Initiative, students in grades 6–12 are receiving annual Hands-Only CPR training during middle and high school physical education classes.
Pictured here are PE/Swim Instructor Mike Giancarlo, lifeguard Cal Shifflet and Middle School PE Teacher Amanda Ochal leading the first of many days of this life-saving instruction.
Through this initiative, students are empowered with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize an emergency, take immediate action and confidently respond using critical lifesaving techniques, preparing them to make a difference when it matters most.
